The bicycle will be your faithful companion to discover La Marina Alta in an exceptional way and enjoy open spaces. Regardless of whether your are with someone or solo, you will be savouring every corner and getting to know the customs and traditions still preserved in our region. La Marina Alta is a great tourist destination to enjoy in any season of the year, given its climate and good temperatures for practising infinite outdoor sports. Its special orography, with beaches surrounded by valleys and mountains, makes it in an ideal territory to do your favourite activity -cycling, chosen by numerous professional teams for their training sessions.
In addition to the large number of identified and waymarked cycling routes, there is also an important variety of trips and activities that can be carried out when passing through the different towns and attractions in these routes.

We start the route from the town of Pego, passing through Tormos to Orba and the return via Benidoleig, Ráfol de Almunia to Pego passing through La Marjal de Pego-Oliva. The bicycle route takes approximately 2 hours to cover the 30 kilometres of the route. We should know that the route is technically difficult, as it is made up of 50% cycle lane and greenway, and 50% asphalt in poor condition with steep slopes on a third of the route. Most of the route will be on flat stretches from Orba to Benidoleig, and the part of La Marjal.
In this case, we propose to start from the town of Pego, arriving at Orba to return to the same town by a different route, thus making a circular route. Therefore, it can be done in both directions, choosing where to stop at any time to enjoy the landscape, the culture and the gastronomy of the proposed towns. Pego: As suggested in this route, the departure and arrival will be carried out from Pego, where you can visit La Marjal de Pego-Oliva, declared Natural Park. A lot of its appeal is hidden around this spot. The rice-cultivating and redbeeds areas, springs and the "Muntanyeta Verda" form a landscape mosaic which is especially relevant for the habitat of many species, like the Purple Heron, the Little Grebe and the Black-winged Stilt. Arriving in Orba, and all the way to La Marjal de Pego-Oliva, we come across typical agricultural villages with citrus groves and vineyards. The economy has traditionally been agricultural with a tendency towards citrus monoculture, although there are also vineyards, as well as almond, carob and olive trees. Orba: Orba is a village of just over a thousand inhabitants, which offers many possibilities for hiking and visiting very picturesque spots. Benidoleig: It is also a town where the economy depends on agriculture and the most widespread crop is citrus fruits; the production of sultanas for mistela has great relevance too. As for cultural resources, you can visit the Casa Señorial del Baron de Finestrat and the Parish Church of La Sangre de Cristo. A very important heritage element in this municipality is La Cova de les Calaveres (Skulls Cave), which is located on the right bank of the Girona river valley. The cave is famous for its long history, having been used as a refuge by Palaeolithic man more than 100,000 years ago. Ràfol de Almunia: The last town proposed before reaching Pego is Ráfol de Almunia. You can make a stop along the way to visit and get to know its cultural heritage, one option is to visit the church of San Francisco de Paula y el Lavadero, and for the more adventurous, a good choice is to take a walk through the "Port dels Sorells" and the Sierra de Segaria. Once we are ready to finish the route and having enjoyed all the proposed activities and services that can be contracted in the towns of Pego, Orba, Benidoleig and Ráfol de Almunia. We will head to the Marjal de Pego-Oliva to make the last stop on our route and enjoy the glorious landscape that changes at different times of the year and is always available for us to visit.
Along the route there are different places to eat, restaurants and beach bars in the calas in Benissa. To taste the most traditional dishes, you can even start in the morning visiting the two neighbouring towns one after the other, Calp or Moraira, and in the afternoon make your way back to the starting point.
