Ondara has an area of 10,41 km2 and is located only 36 metres of height above sea level. Situated in the heart of the Marina Alta region, it is a growing municipality characterized by its historic depth and particular personality, which permeates its streets and old town.
Regarding its ondarencpatrimony, its Torre del Reloj, declared Asset of Cultural Interest (Bien de Interés Cultural) and situated in the Plaça del Mercat is characterized by its impressive mechanism from the beginning of the 20th century and its artistic bell tower. In addition, the so-called Font de la Carxofa, built at the end of the last century, as well as its centered convent, a building dating back in the 17th century, constitute other symbolic elements for the ondarencs.
On the other hand, the most characteristic and appreciated monument in the Ondara villa is its well-known and prestigious Plaza de Toros (Bullring): a construction with some arabesque style elements and one solid structure of masonry and mortar, which is the epicentre of the Popular Festivities in honour to Sant Jaume, held every July and whith turn the municipality into a main nucleus for the entertainment in the region.
Regarding Ondara’s natural heritage, the Parque Público de Segària, with more than 94,000 m2 , approved hiking trails and a municipal shelter, constitutes a beautiful territory that you cannot miss if you want to enjoy the essence and aromas of the Mediterranean nature.
Along with this heritage tour, one of the fundamental attractions in the essence of the municipality continues to be its deep-rooted and consolidated commercial network. Ondara's relationship with trade is historical, as evidenced by its popular trade fair founded in 1690, where the new commercial and business challenges of the municipality are established.
The intensity and variety of the cultural municipality’s agenda throughout the year is also relevant: contemporary art exhibitions, theater, dance and music performances, such as the musical festival Gegant, the fair Fira de la Paraula i la Bona Taula, among many other events.
With all these celebrations, Ondara definitely means a municipal attraction where history, commerce, gastronomy and culture colive in a same priviledged area.
